Our European Vacation: Along the Seine

Our first full day in Paris, we spent a good part of it walking along the Seine to get a feel for the city.

Many bridges cross the river as it winds through the city. Near the Eiffel Tower, we walked under the Viaduc de Passy.

Farther on, we saw statues, some old . . .

We saw this church, Eglise Saint-Germain l’Auxerrois . . .

There are better photos of it on the web, here and here, but here are some close-ups of some of the architectural details.

We also walked by, and wandered through, the oldest hospital in Paris, l’Hotel-Dieu. Though the hospital, as an institution, dates back to 651, this building is “only” 139 years old.
